- I had that problem when I first installed my USR modem.
- When I used other programs, they would reset the
- modem to the default string stored in the modem's registers by
- the last installation of comm software..

- I fixed writing the AT&F string to the register and using ATZ as the
- reset string for all applications - which by the way worked with
- all the comm applications. I do not recall the exact string I used
- but I would try AT&F W1.
